Warner Robins Mayor: Stay at home. We’re not doing a good job at that in Houston County.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)– Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms is calling on the people of Warner Robins and Houston County to take the COVID-19 threat seriously.

During a city council meeting that was held Monday by teleconference because of social distancing guidelines, Toms said he had been talking to people and asking them to listen to instructions to stay home.

Toms said, “Houston County has not listened. We are not doing a good job of staying away from places that we don’t need to be.”

Several council members also shared their concerns and urged residents to stay home unless absolutely necessary.

Toms told council members that he doesn’t see a need for a curfew right now. He said many stores were closing earlier, and he’s encouraging businesses that can close early to do so.

He ended the meeting telling residents that they need to practice social distancing when going out for essentials.

“Let’s make a decision today to practice the guidelines put out by CDC, and let’s work together– Houston County, Warner Robins, the state of Georgia, and the United States of America– to flatten the curve on this horrible, life-taking virus”, Toms said.

To date, Houston County has had the most cases of COVID-19 and the most deaths associated with the disease when compared to other counties in the North Central Health District.
