Cloud cover begins to return Thursday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia will begin to see more clouds as high pressure moves out over the Atlantic and a cold front approaches.

Skies will remain mostly clear with some clouds beginning to fill in overnight tonight. It will be slightly muggier as winds persist from the southwest at around 5 mph. Temperatures are likely to bottom out in the lower 50s ahead of Thursday morning.

Partly sunny skies are expected Thursday as a lot of cloud cover will be cirrus clouds, allowing some sun through. Temperatures will likely reach the upper 70s and lower 80s once again around the region with winds from the southwest persisting at around 5-10 mph. No rain is expected tomorrow.

Tomorrow night Middle Georgia should still remain dry, however cloud cover will thicken, leading to low temperatures jumping into the mid to upper 50s ahead of Friday morning. Winds will remain out of the southwest.

Friday and The Weekend

Friday will see much gloomier conditions as overcast skies take over most of Georgia. Rain will likely begin to move in during the afternoon in the form of some scattered showers. Temperatures should still reach the mid to upper 70s despite the cloudier conditions. Rain activity will likely pick up more overnight as the cold front stalls out in the Peach State.

The weekend will not see any improvement as overcast skies will likely remain in the area until Monday. Temperatures will be in the 60s and 50s with rain likely both Saturday and Sunday. It will be a bit nicer early next week, however it will also be cooler on the back side of the cold front.
