Several Middle Georgia high schools moving classes due to the GHSA reclassification

The new GHSA reclassifications will be for the 2024-2026 school year.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –The Georgia High School Association announced its reclassification plans for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic school years.

The most significant change involves the elimination of Class 7A, and all private schools competing from A to 3A will vie for a single state championship in each sport.

Several Middle Georgia high schools are affected by the reclassification, and below are the listed changes.

Houston County, Northside, and Veterans move from 6A to 5A.

Warner Robins and Jones County move from 5A to 4A.

West Laurens, Baldwin, and Howard move from 4A to 3A.

Westside moves from 4A to 2A.

Southwest, Northeast, Central, ACE, and Dodge County move from 2A to A Division I.

Crawford County moves from A Division I to A Division II.
