HAMPTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you’ve ever wanted to take laps around Atlanta Motor Speedway in your own car, there’s an opportunity this month.

Speedway Children’s Charities Atlanta will host “Laps for DAD” on Friday, June 18. The event, according to an AMS news release, provides an opportunity for anyone to take their personal vehicle around the track for three laps with a donation of just $50 per vehicle.

Proceeds will benefit the Atlanta chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities and its ongoing mission to help children in need.

“Driving on these steep turns is an unforgettable experience and one any father would enjoy,” AMS Executive Vice President and General Manager Brandon Hutchison said. “Laps for DAD is sure to be a fun event for Father’s Day weekend and a great way to help kids in the Atlanta area.”

First laps around the speedway will begin at 5 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m.

Tickets for the event must be purchased online. Admission will not be admitted on-site.

Attendees will be required to enter the track through the main tunnel off Speedway Boulevard. You must be 18 and have a valid driver’s license to drive and must also complete a waiver and present it. All participants must wear seat belts.
