Living Well with Troy Thompson: Benefits of Dry Needling

(41NBC/WMGT) — Today Troy Thompson sits down with Dr. Justine Richman to continue his discussion about Dry Needling and why it can be so beneficial.

Dr. Richman said that one of the biggest benefits to Dry Needling is that the technique can be used to reach tissue that normally can’t be reached with hands or other tools. It also increases range of motion, decreases pain and overall increases the function of the tissue.

If you feel like you’re suffering from a lot of knots in your neck or your back, Dry Needling is a good solution for that but it can also be used for migraines and other issues. For the most part when you’re being stuck with the needles, you won’t feel it but if the needles hit certain points on your body you most likely will experience a “Twitch Response”. This reaction will leave those points on the body feeling dull and achy so you’ll want to take some downtime afterwards. Soreness might not kick in until 24 to 48 hours later so plan accordingly.
