Tech Byte: Apps for exploring national parks

It’s finally starting to feel like spring! Now is a great time to get outside and explore your local hiking trails. In today’s Tech Byte, Google Maps has some new features just in time for National Park Week that can help you make the most of your time outdoors.

Whether you’re on foot or taking a bike, Google maps can now give you directions on the trails. If you won’t have internet access out there, don’t worry. You can download a map of the park to keep from getting lost. The update also highlights each park’s must-do attractions. No more struggling to find the visitor’s center or campgrounds.

If you like the sound of the new Google Maps update, you should also check out the National Parks Service app. With the NSP app, you can get answers to questions without tracking down a ranger. Everything you need to know about each national park is right at your fingertips. After all, it was developed by park rangers. Much like Google Maps, the National Parks Service app also has interactive maps. The NSP also offers park tours, amenities, and things to do. It also works offline.
