GMC Prep claims One Act Region Championship in Milledgeville’s NewDay USA Center

Georgia Military College Prep School has won the title of Region 5A Division II One Act Champions following its performance of "Once on This Island, The Musical" in Milledgeville.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Military College Prep School has won the title of Region 5A Division II One Act Champions following its performance of “Once on This Island, The Musical” in Milledgeville.

On the stage of the NewDay USA Center for Leadership at Georgia Military College, the GMC Prep One Act team not only took home the championship on October 26 but also garnered individual honors.

Team members Avi Villarreal and Nikki Knight were named to the All Star Cast, Shawn Boyce won Best Supporting Actor, Abigail Johnson was recognized as Best Supporting Actress, William Steinfeld claimed Best Actor and Alexis Waldroup was celebrated as Best Actress.

“GMC Prep School was honored to host the region championship in our brand new NewDay USA Center for Leadership at Georgia Military College,” GMC Prep Principal Col. Amy Lee said. “Its stage was the perfect place to win this well-deserved Region Championship! From our talented students to our dedicated faculty to our supportive parents, this win is a testament to the time and devotion put into this incredible show!”

This win propels the GMC Prep One Act team to the state competition on November 18 at Denmark High School in Alpharetta.
