UPDATE: Additional arrest made in Perry shooting that left 13-year-old dead

A second arrest has been made in connection with a shooting Friday night that left a 13-year-old girl dead.

UPDATE (11/13 – 3:10 p.m.) – A second arrest has been made in connection with a shooting Friday night that left a 13-year-old girl dead.

A Perry Police news release says the victim’s brother, 17-year-old Tayler Tharpe, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter for his role in the shooting. He’s being held at the Houston County Detention Center.

The 16-year-old juvenile “involved with providing the gun used in the shooting” remains in custody pending a juvenile hearing, police said.


ORIGINAL STORY (11/11 – 9:45 a.m.):

PERRY, Ge0rgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  A 13-year-old girl was shot to death in Perry overnight.

It happened around 10 p.m. Friday at a home located at 610 Marsha Drive, according to Perry Police. Officers responded and found the girl inside with a gunshot wound to the neck. She was taken to Perry Hospital, where she died.

Officers say the investigation revealed the shooting was not intentional. A 16-year-old was taken into custody and is charged with involuntary manslaughter.
