Middle Georgia Cold Cases: Diane’s Disappearance
EAST DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s been a little more than year since anyone has seen an East Dublin woman and agents with the GBI have had little luck finding any leads.
44-year-old Diane Fields used to live at a home on Celia Drive in East Dublin. She hasn’t been seen since November 2014.
“Our last credible sighting of Diane occurred on November the 4th, a Tuesday evening,” Special Agent Scott Whitley, with the GBI, said.
Incident reports from the East Dublin Police Department show the day Diane disappeared, her boyfriend reported a burglary.
“The report came into the East Dublin Police Department on Thursday, November 6th that Diane was missing from her residence and the investigation at this point has revealed that the last credible sighting we have of Diane was two days prior on the Tuesday evening,” Whitley said.
The back door was kicked in, one of the bedrooms was a mess, and knife was on the floor in the hallway.
“Our main broad brush picture that we would like to convey to the public on this is that we need any assistance that could be given to help located Diane,” Whitley said.
“I just want her back and I want her back alive,” Eddie Fields, Diane’s brother, said in an interview in 2014.
“I can’t see why anybody would harm her in any way like that. It’s unrealistic,” he said.
The Army vet spent weeks along with family looking for his sister and had a tough time getting answers.
“It’s been very hectic trying to get out into the communities with flyers, trying to get the community involved to see if anybody has any information on where she’s at or where she could be at,” Eddie said.
Since then, the G.B.I. hasn’t had much luck either and can’t follow specific leads.
“We’re not drawing any conclusions or getting any tunnel vision right now. We would just ask the public, any information you have concerning Diane’s whereabouts to please let us, the G.B.I. Eastman Office, or the G.B.I. tip line in Atlanta, or the East Dublin Police Department or any law enforcement in Laurens County know,” Whitley said.
